21st ASRF Street Rod Nationals
“21 In The Sun” was the slogan for the 21st ASRF Street Rod Nationals held at Parklands on the Gold Coast. It was great to have the Nationals back in Queensland. Rod Squad was well represented at the event and we were able to assist in a small way with the operations for the weekend. With over 1000 entries, there were plenty of rods to see, old friends to catch up with, new people to meet – and time for cruising as well.
We also had the privilege of presenting a Chapel Service on the Sunday morning, right next to the big marquee where breakfast was being served. Col Chapman led the community singing of “The Old Rugged Cross”, the “Crustys” sang, and a few members, including Jeff Dakers from “The Preachers” hot rod club of Illawarra, testified of the way Christ had changed their lives by His resurrection power. Shane Gilchrist then wrapped up with a short message about our relationship with God that He has made possible through Jesus death on the cross.
After the service, Rod Squad took the opportunity to serve free hot cross buns from our club tent to those cruising by on the cruise track.
