Three Christmas Events – a great end to 2012
Christmas time is a time of celebration, and the Rod Squad is no different. This year, a raft of Christmas based activities was planned, which ensured something for everyone was on the agenda.
First up was the official Rod Squad Christmas Breakup, which saw a great turnout of members and their cars meet at the Beenleigh Showgrounds and participate in a scenic cruise to the historic Rivermill Restaurant at Mount Nathan, via a short stopover at Canungra. The restaurant had an interesting museum attached, and the food was very tasty, which, combined with the good company and views of the peaceful lake, ensured a very pleasant and relaxed afternoon was had by all.
Next, the Rod Squad Christmas Lights Cruise, which is rapidly becoming a very popular Rod Squad tradition. As in previous years, the “Ipswich Connection” were kind enough to open up their homes for a lovely afternoon get together and pizza dinner, followed by a cruise around the local area to check out some awesome Christmas lights displays. Afterwards, a very tasty supper was just the thing to top off a wonderful afternoon and evening. Thank you so much to Graeme, Robert and Brian and , of course, their lovely wives, for all the organising of this event and for opening up their lovely homes.
Finally, the Rod Squad were asked to attend the Christmas Carols event staged by the Logan Village AOG. A good number of members joined with other hot rods and classic cars to present an impressive display which was the perfect backdrop to the music on the stage. The locals seemed to enjoy both the cars and the carols which were provided by a talented team which included our very own Colin Chapman.
The Rod Squad would love to thank all members for their efforts all year and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and very Happy New Year. May 2013 be a year of blessings, spiritual growth and oportunities for service for the club, it’s members and their families.
